Research and analyse

I have chosen to analyse the opening of the film
"You got served"

From the beginning of this opening, we are immediately introduced to the film
company and its logo, "Screen Gems - A Sony pictures entertainment company" which
is accompanied by a digetic cheering sound that takes us into the opening scenes.

- The director and cast are presented through bold white typography in order for the
audience to read.
- The title of the film is shown 27 seconds in from the opening in large bold white and red typography
matching parts of the dancers in the backgrounds' attire
- We instantly hear the soundtrack which has been amplified over the cheering crowd so that
we are able to hear it clearly. The soundtrack sets of the tone and allows the audience to acknowledge
the type of film it is going to be (in this case, young, urban and dance)
- We get a sense of a fast and energetic pace from the very beginning. This correlates to the action in
the film and contributes with the music to create the mood.
- The first scene is set in what appears to be a warehouse where the characters have a
dance off in. We are not introduced to the city from the beginning.

The opening of this film follows the key film conventions,
however only meets two of the class film opening conventions;
- The camera goes into a room
- Shows/meets the characters
